Responsibilities:
  • Provides personal support to help online students understand and navigate university processes and procedures with an eye toward student success.
  • Acts as first point of contact for online students including responding to email, in person and on the phone as well as monitoring students’ engagement using
  • dashboards on LMS and other content provision platforms.
  • Develops and implements e-mentoring and social media strategies to maintain positive relationships and effective communication with students.
  • Analyses, organizes, and updates reports, spreadsheets, and templates for effective time management, accuracy of data, efficient student communication,
  • and trending student retention.
  • Assists students in solving problems through discussion and provides referral to appropriate university staff, counsellor, or academic advisor as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with students which encourage academic success, progression and retention.
  • When necessary, uses interpersonal skills to calm emotionally upset individuals until assistance is available.
  • Uses tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in dealing with students.
  • Efficiently utilizes office software, including spreadsheet, database, word-processing, and web development functions.
  • Manages sensitive information with appropriate awareness of PDPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Previous advising, student service, higher education, public relations, customer service, or similar working experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably – but not exclusively – in social sciences (psychology, sociology, etc.) or in any discipline where human relations are emphasised;
  • High technology proficiency; fluency in Microsoft Excel, Social Media Applications and Outlook.
  • Able to handle a high level of inbound/outbound calls;
  • Excellent communication skills and who are able to articulate clearly, persuasively, and professionally with students.
  • Able to interpret and analyse student data in order to proactively contact students and to achieve retention goals.
  • Self-confidence, patience, empathy, and availability when building rapport with students.
  • Flexible, receptive to change and learning opportunities;
  • Proactive approach to locating appropriate resources to assist with unfamiliar situations
  • Exceptional counselling, coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Commitment to student development and success.
  • Establish rapport with a diverse student population.
  • Provide students with accurate advice and appropriate referral.
  • Encompass creative problem solving capabilities.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Confidence to ask questions; and self-awareness to recognize and learn from mistakes.
  • Commitment to maintaining cohesive working relationships, positive view of conflict, and honesty and respect in all communications.
  • Motivated in a high-energy work environment, able to maintain focus amidst unexpected distractions and manage disruptions with professionalism.
